Sabrina’s is almost exactly the same, except she starts from RDU, not TLH.
Preparing for the wedding has been most exciting. Apparently we will start from her uncle’s home, near the hotel. I will ride a horse to the hotel, and she will ride in a carriage. There will be a banquet, several ceremonies, a lot of insults thrown at us, then we have to go to each table and drink…. We figure between 15 and 25 tables…. After the banquet, I guess we go out on the town, or pass out. I can’t wait!
The website for our hotel is here: http://www.huatian-hotel.com
The flash takes a while to load, but be patient, it is worth it. The hotel looks excellent, it is a 5 star, and we get a free suite for having the banquet there. We expect 150+ people to show up. This promises to be quite an experience.
We are still trying to decide where we want to spend our honeymoon, I kind of want to go to Chendu and play with the Pandas, but I hear that they don’t come out when it is cold, and Chendu is kinda northen, so we may try something in one of the southern provinces.
In the south, there are lots of historic sites, tombs of former emperors, and Mao Zedong’s childhood home is near Sabrina’s City. I am sure we will see these places. There is a popular island in the far south with excellent beaches, but we will probably try to see something more cultural while we are there. We are only getting a little over 3 weeks this time.
I’ve been spending my leisure time reading about Chinese history and customs, trying to learn how to read and speak Chinese a little better, and trying to get through this semester (it ended up being the most heavily loaded with work yet).
Anyway, keep your eyes on the site after Dec. 15, I’ll try to keep it well updated.

Hey Folks. Well, I'm 1 day away from leaving for DC.
I'm busily trying to get everything done before I leave. A lot of
things like cleaning my office will have to wait until I get back.
We got good news today, Sabrina got a job offer from KPMG for when we get
back in January. She'll have to live in Jacksonville, which is not
ideal for us, but it's ok because she should get excellent experience
there, and should have little trouble finding placement afterward.
I can't believe how much I still have left to do!
It's ok though.
I switched our hotels. We were originally staying in
a super 8 about 2 miles from the conference, the total for the 4 nights
was going to be $260. A friend recommended that we try Priceline.com
It lets you chose the class of hotel that you want, the area, and enter
your own price. The only thing is, you are committed to buying as
soon as you hit submit, they charge your card right away, and you don't
know until afterward exactly which hotel you get. We got lucky, I
put in $63/night, and got the four points Sheraton. So, now we pay
$300 (with tax and all the priceline fees), we get a hotel 4 blocks from
the conference, in a much safer neighborhood (walking distance to the
white house), and we get a room with free internet, a pool and a gym
(well, at least we'll use the internet). Can't argue with that!
